Visit to the UK Siu Lum Hak Fu Mun 2013Committee member Alan Low took the opportunity during a business trip to the UK to visit our Hak Fu Mun friends in Bedworth near Coventry. Alan stayed for 4 days and was warmly welcomed. Most of his time with the UK association was spent practicing routines including Single Elbow, Hak Fu Mun Dummy (first part), Iron Wire, Short Staff, Lion Dance etc. and sharing experiences. The UK Hak Fu Mun Association’s premise is a two storey building of over 1000 square feet per floor. There is also a large backyard. The venue is well equipped and the environment is very suitable for martial arts training. In the middle of the venue, a big photo of Grandmaster Wong Cheung and photos of our annual dinner in March as well as the penmanship souvenir are displayed in prominent locations. During his stay, he saw the training process of students in different age groups. The coaches used different teaching methods according to different ages. The discipline is strict and students in many interactive practices. Every student can happily participate in each training sections in hot atmosphere. At that time, his fellow students from the UK were preparing to participate in the British Wushu Routine Competition. Low gave them suggestions and demonstrations on areas for improvement. Alan’s visit further enhanced the friendship between HK and the UK Hak Fu Mun. Although there are differences in training processes, we share the same passion and goal to promote for Hak Fu Mun martial arts.
