There are some unique weapons and dummies in the Siu Lum Hak Fu Mun.
Gou Chi Mor Poon Jon (Nine Pin Millstone Dummy-九齒磨盤樁)The "Nine-Pin Millstone Dummy" of the Hak Fu Mun are not originated from the Siu Lum Hak Fu Mun. Great Master Wong Cheung learned this unique dummy by chance and carried it forward to making it one of the Hak Fu Mun's unique dummy, which is truly unique. The dummy body is made of hard granite and is more flexible and comprehensive than ordinary wooden dummies. The dummy is about 6.5 feet tall and has a head, body, hands and feet. There is an iron rod on the top of the head that can swing back and forth to simulate a chop down action from the top of the head. The body can rotate. The upper body has four iron rods as hands that can rotate forward, backward, left and right. The lower body has two iron rods extending out forward and backward to simulate "low Kicks". The entire dummy is firmly embedded in the ground. In addition to individual practice, it can also be done in pair. When two people compete, both sides can use this iron to kick the other side, and then rotate the body left and right to hit the other side. The other side will kick back and resist with bridge hand, so as to practice the immediate defensive reaction. It was common to get bruises on the hands and feet from being beaten in practice. |
Bo Ap Chuen Lin (Rattan Ring) - (Duck Passing through Lotus - 寶鴨穿蓮)Practicing Rattan Ring is to train the hardness and strength of the bridge hands. When practicing, both hands pass through the rattan Ring and move left and right, up and down. Because the hands is restricted by the rattan Ring, the hand technique is accurate. With the coordination of step stances, hands move left and right, the body center is tightly defended. When practicing, hands are required to be opened left and right with force to make the rattan Ring "straighten". The friction between the rattan Ring and the hands can train the hardness of the both hands. |
Kam Wun Tit Fi (金碗鐡筷)(Golden Bowl and Iron Chopsticks)According to legend, this technique was devised by So Hak Fu, one of the Ten Tigers of Guangdong. Because he had many enemies, he could not relax in his daily life and even in daily meals. He used chopsticks and bowl as weapons and devised "bowl and chopsticks". As Bamboo chopsticks and porcelain bowl cannot resist real guns and swords, so "bowl and chopsticks" replaced them with iron chopsticks and bowls. Chopsticks are used as as that of a dagger. A dagger is mainly for stabbing, inserting and buckling. Since chopsticks have no cutting edge, they are mainly for acupuncture. Chopsticks' heads and tails can be used interchangeably. With flexible step stances and body movements as well as the coordination of chopsticks and bowl, "Bowl and Chopsticks" can be used for both offense and defense. |
